What Is Graverobber in Marathon?

Graverobber is one of three Codex titles, alongside Archivist and Zonewarden. It focuses entirely on the loot side of the game – high-value extractions, rare salvage types, Prestige-tier items, and economy mechanics most players don't interact with until deep into a season.

Seven challenges sit under Graverobber tab. Each one requires a specific loot-related action during a successful extraction. No partial credit – you either pull it off and extract alive, or it doesn't count. Completing all seven awards Graverobber Superior Profile Title and Horde Engine Superior Weapon Style permanently.

All 7 Graverobber Challenges

1. Big Ticket – Gain over 10000 loot value in a single run.
2. Fixer-Upper – Use Matter Fixative on a compromised item to remove effect. Rewards: Volatile Trade emblem.
3. High-End Heist – Open a Prestige Locked Room. Rewards: Horde Mentality background.
4. Collector – In one run, obtain 7 different types of Salvage through Materialist.
5. Locksmith – Exfiltrate with Superior or Prestige Key Template. Rewards: Delicate Mind sticker.
6. Exquisite Taste – Exfiltrate with Prestige Salvage.
7. Sentimental Value – Sell an Enduring item that has been exfiltrated at least 3 times. Rewards: Keepsake emblem.

How to Complete Graverobber Challenges

Every Graverobber challenge ties to Marathon extraction economy, and most of them punish failure hard:

• Big Ticket requires stacking high-value items across a single deployment. Prestige and Superior Salvage drive the number up fastest, but carrying that much value makes you a priority target for other Runners. You need to loot aggressively early in a deployment, then extract before traffic peaks.
• Collector needs 7 distinct Salvage types through Materialist perk in one run. Most deployments produce 3–4 types naturally. Getting to 7 means covering multiple loot zones in a single life and using Materialist on every eligible container.
• Sentimental Value is the most time-consuming challenge in the entire Codex. You have to exfiltrate the same Enduring item three separate times, then sell it. Three successful extractions carrying one item – die once with it, and you start counter over with a new item. This alone can take a dozen runs.
• Locksmith depends on Key Template drops, which appear in specific loot pools inside contested areas. You can run a full deployment without seeing one. Superior and Prestige templates are not common drops.
• High-End Heist requires finding a Prestige Locked Room, having correct key, and extracting after opening it. Prestige rooms attract every Runner on the map the moment they unlock – expect PvP inside.
• Fixer-Upper needs Matter Fixative, a consumable from faction progression. If you haven't leveled the right faction tree, you can't attempt this challenge. Material farming can help speed up faction progression for consumable access.
• Exquisite Taste is straightforward if you know Prestige Salvage spawn locations, but extracting alive with Prestige-tier loot is always a fight.
