Details of Arachne Faction Tree Service

Arachne is Marathon's PvP-focused faction. No economy upgrades, no AV protection, no grenade kits. What Arachne does is put direct combat power on the table: melee damage stacks, knife life steal, finisher-based shield recovery, better weapons in your Armory, and implants built for aggressive playstyles.

Getting there is the problem. Arachne contracts require killing other Runners. Not UESC units, not malware terminals, not containers – actual PvP kills. That makes Arachne the most punishing faction to grind solo by a wide margin. Every deployment you load in looking for a fight, risk losing everything you carried, and might not even find a target before the timer runs out. Other factions let you stack contracts passively while looting. Arachne demands you hunt.

Getting from Rank 1 to Rank 28 plus VIP takes sustained success against players who are also running with gear and objectives of their own. Material farming compounds it – 9 different resource types across the full tree, with Synapse Cube and Enzyme Replicator at high ranks dropping only from dangerous zones.

What Arachne's Tree Actually Does

Tree splits between four pillars:

  • Melee and knife combat is where the tree earns its identity. Hard Strike.EXE stacks +20 Melee Damage across three tiers (Ranks 5, 16, 22), reaching +60 total. Knife Fight implants from V2 to V4 unlock at Ranks 4, 11, and 24. Leech.EXE at Rank 28 adds life steal on knife hits – passive sustain during every close-range fight. No other faction tree touches melee this consistently.
  • Finisher mechanics work through Cutthroat.EXE, which grants shield recharge after performing a finisher on a downed Runner. Three tiers at Ranks 6, 18, and 25 stack a total of +60 Finisher Siphon. In practice this means every execution on a downed enemy refills part of your shield – turning your most aggressive moments into survival windows instead of vulnerabilities.
  • Weapon Armory access covers three weapon types: shotgun (WSTR Combat Shotgun), railgun (ARES RG), and LMG (Retaliator). Mod nodes unlock at the early ranks. Base, Enhanced, and Deluxe weapon tiers unlock progressively through the mid and high ranks. Without the Arachne tree, getting these weapons means world drops – unreliable at best, nonexistent at worst when you actually want them.
  • Implants round out the tree with Hurting Hands V2–V4 (melee and hardware stats) and Knife Fight V2–V4 (knife-specific bonuses), plus Reboot.EXE tiers for revive speed across Ranks 7, 19, and 27. Reboot.EXE T3 at Rank 27 is one of the most practically useful late-rank unlocks – faster self-revives save runs that would otherwise end in a bleed-out.

Arachne Material Costs

Nine material types rotate across the tree. Low-rank nodes eat Unstable Gel almost exclusively. Mid-rank shifts to Drone Resin, Drone Node, and Biomata combinations. High-rank nodes demand Reflex Coil, Enzyme Replicator, and Synapse Cube:

Unstable GelDrone ResinDrone NodeBiomata ResinBiomata NodeReflex CoilEnzyme ReplicatorSynapse CubeHazard Capsule

Synapse Cube requirement starts at Rank 28 (Leech.EXE) and carries into the Reboot.EXE T3 node. Hazard Capsule appears only at VIP Rank 1. These aren't common drops – they come from harder contested zones, which is exactly where Arachne contracts send you anyway.

Capstones

Capstones unlock automatically as you purchase nodes. They don't cost extra and activate sequentially at node milestones:

  • I – BOOSTED: ROOK starts runs with Implants already equipped. Arachne will barter wares for certain Deluxe Salvage. Implants from the very first spawn – combined with Hurting Hands and Knife Fight unlocks from the tree, this capstone converts your kit immediately.
  • II – TREASURE_HUNTER: Arachne Treasure reputation +20%. Speeds up rep gains from Arachne-specific loot events – a meaningful boost when contracts are the primary grind.
  • III – SPONSORSHIP [ARACHNE]: Unlocks Arachne Advanced Sponsored Kit for Armory purchase. Arachne barters wares for certain Superior Salvage. Better barter tier and a full sponsored loadout available for credits.
  • IV – BOOMSTICK: ROOK starts every run with a WSTR Combat Shotgun and MIPS Rounds. This is the standout capstone. Free shotgun on spawn means you walk into every deployment already armed for close-range pressure – without spending credits or relying on world drops.
  • V – FACTORY_RESET.EXE: Reviving a crew member grants healing over time. Heal interrupts if you take damage, but in clean revive situations it's free HP recovery after a fight. Strong for squad-play focused runners.
  • VI – SUPERIOR ARMAMENT: Unlocks Superior Retaliator LMG, WSTR Combat Shotgun, and ARES RG for Armory purchase. Arachne barters wares for certain Prestige Salvage. Endgame weapon tier access and highest barter category unlocked.

Arachne vs Other Factions

Arachne doesn't complement your economy or protect your shell from virus zones. What it does is make you more dangerous in fights and give you consistent access to weapons you'd otherwise farm RNG for.

MIDA players go aggressive with grenades and movement speed. Arachne players go aggressive with weapons and melee sustain. Neither does what the other does. Runners who want to push contested zones, fight over high-value loot, and win PvP encounters regularly will find Arachne upgrades compound directly into better results. +60 Melee Damage cap, knife life steal from Leech.EXE, and +60 Finisher Siphon together mean your close-range kit is running at full efficiency every run.

Comparison that matters for most players is whether to grind Arachne before pushing Traxus for mod access or MIDA's grenade and movement tree. Arachne fits best when you already have weapon mod access through Traxus and want the power to actually fight for your extractions.

How It Works

  1. Pick your nodes – Select individual upgrades from the checkbox list or take the full tree. Add rank progression if your current Arachne standing doesn't reach what you need.
  2. Hand over access – Provide login credentials through order chat. Our runner checks your current Arachne rank and maps the contracts and material routes needed.
  3. Contract grinding + material farming – Our runners deploy with Arachne contracts active, completing PvP-focused objectives while farming Drone Resin, Biomata Node, Enzyme Replicator, and higher-tier materials. Reputation builds through contract completions and extractions.
  4. Nodes purchased, everything kept – Selected upgrades get purchased once rank requirements are met. All gear, credits, and materials earned during the process stay on your account.

Why LevelUpper for Arachne Grinding

  • PvP contracts are the hardest in Marathon: Arachne requires killing other Runners – not UESC units, not objectives, actual player kills. Our runners have been competing in extraction shooter PvP since Arc Raiders in 2025. They know how to close gaps, secure kills, and extract clean without burning the whole session on one failed fight.
  • BOOMSTICK capstone pays back fast: Once the tree hits the capstone milestone, every run starts with a free WSTR Combat Shotgun. That's fewer credits spent in Armory per deployment, directly lowering the cost of aggressive loadouts for the rest of the season.
  • 1800+ ratings across 20+ games including extraction shooters. Manual gameplay only – no scripts, no automation.
  • Material overlap with kill-focused zones: Drone Resin and Biomata materials drop from zones where Arachne contracts send you anyway. Our runners stack contract objectives and material farming in the same deployments, keeping session counts down.

FAQ

What is Arachne in Marathon?

Arachne is one of six factions on Tau Ceti IV and Marathon's dedicated PvP-focused faction. Their contracts revolve around killing other Runners rather than completing environmental objectives. Arachne upgrades cover melee and knife damage, finisher-based shield recovery, shotgun/railgun/LMG Armory access, close-combat implants, and revive speed. It's the faction built for players who want to fight – and win.

What does the Arachne tree unlock?

28 purchasable nodes plus a VIP unlock and 6 capstones. Stat boosts reach +60 Melee Damage (Hard Strike.EXE), +60 Finisher Siphon (Cutthroat.EXE), and +60 Revive Speed (Reboot.EXE). Armory unlocks include three shotgun tiers, three railgun tiers, three LMG tiers, Hurting Hands V2–V4, and Knife Fight V2–V4. Capstone highlights: BOOMSTICK spawns you with a WSTR Combat Shotgun every run, BOOSTED gives you Implants from spawn, and SUPERIOR ARMAMENT unlocks top-tier weapon purchases.

What materials do Arachne upgrades cost?

Arachne uses 9 material types across the full tree. Low-rank nodes primarily cost Unstable Gel. Mid-rank nodes add Drone Resin, Drone Node, and Biomata Resin. High-rank nodes require Reflex Coil, Enzyme Replicator, and Synapse Cube. VIP requires Hazard Capsule. Synapse Cube appears on both Leech.EXE (Rank 28) and Reboot.EXE T3 (Rank 27) – the two most demanding late-rank nodes.

How do Arachne contracts work?

Arachne contracts require killing other Runners during deployments. This is fundamentally different from every other faction, which uses environmental objectives. You earn reputation by securing kills and extracting successfully. It's high-risk by design – other Runners are armed, aware, and often in squads. Arachne rep cannot be passively farmed alongside other factions the way MIDA or CyberAcme contracts can.

What is the BOOMSTICK capstone?

BOOMSTICK is one of Arachne's six capstones, unlocking automatically as you purchase nodes from the main tree. Once active, ROOK starts every run with a WSTR Combat Shotgun already equipped and MIPS Rounds loaded. It's a free starting weapon every deployment for the rest of the season – no credits spent, no Armory stop required.

Should I level Arachne before Traxus?

Traxus is the stronger early pick for most players because weapon mod access from Armory affects every run regardless of playstyle. But if you're already PvP-focused and extracting well, Arachne's upgrade stack rewards that playstyle heavily – especially once BOOMSTICK activates. Running both factions is viable, but Traxus gives broader utility while Arachne compounds specifically on aggressive combat.

Do Arachne upgrades reset every season?

All faction reputation, ranks, and purchased upgrades reset when a new season starts. Melee damage perks, Armory weapon tiers, implant unlocks, capstones – everything goes back to zero. Our Marathon Arachne Boost compresses what would take weeks of PvP contract grinding into a fraction of the time, which matters every time the season clock resets.

How long does maxing Arachne take?

Reaching Rank 28 plus VIP requires sustained PvP contract success across many deployments. Arachne takes noticeably longer than most other factions because kills against other Runners are harder to guarantee than environmental objectives. Players who aren't confident in PvP often fall behind on Arachne rep throughout the season.
