Sekiguchi Genetics is where Runner builds actually come together. While CyberAcme handles your vault and economy, and factions like Traxus or Arachne give you weapons – SekGen gives you cores and implants. These are the items that transform a generic shell into a specialized build, and none of them are available until you grind Nona's contracts.

Cores modify how your Runner shell's abilities function. Each of the seven shells – Triage, Destroyer, Assassin, Vandal, Recon, Thief, and Rook – has dedicated cores locked behind SekGen's upgrade tree. Enhanced Cores unlock at Rank 3. Deluxe Cores at Rank 10. And if you push all the way to Capstone VI, Superior Cores become purchasable for every shell. Without these, you're running a baseline kit while everyone around you has modified tactical and prime abilities.

SekGen's implant side is just as important. Energy Harvesting implants (V2 through V4) and Augmented Capacitors (V2 through V4) both unlock through the tree, giving you access to head-slot upgrades that directly affect ability uptime and energy storage. These implants aren't random loot drops – they're guaranteed Armory purchases once you've hit the right node.

What Makes SekGen Grindy

Nona's contracts lean toward precision and extraction – defeat hostiles with precision shots, exfil with cores or implants for SekGen, loot specific containers. They reward patience over aggression, which means slower progress per run compared to something like Arachne's kill-focused contracts.

Material costs scale hard. Early nodes eat Unstable Diode and Storage Drive, which drop fairly commonly. But Rank 23+ nodes demand Predictive Framework, Neural Insulation, Alien Alloy, and Synapse Cube – rare materials from contested zones like Outpost and Cryo Archive. Farming these means high-risk runs where dying costs you everything you're carrying.

Tree has 32 purchasable nodes spread across Ranks 1 through 28, plus a VIP rank node. Total credit cost across all nodes exceeds 75000 credits, not counting the materials. Most casual players won't finish SekGen in a single season, especially if they're also pushing other factions like CyberAcme or Traxus.

Partially fills your prime ability charge at the start of a run.

• PRIME_AMP.EXE 2 (Rank 28) – Requires: 5000 credits, Synapse Cube x3, Predictive Framework x3.

Another +30 Prime Recovery. Stacks with Level 1 for significantly faster prime cooldowns.

• PRIMED.EXE 2 (VIP 1) – Requires: 5000 credits, Alien Alloy x3, Neural Insulation x11.

Completely fills your prime ability charge at the start of a run. You deploy with your strongest ability ready to fire immediately. This is the final SekGen node and the last power spike the tree offers.

Capstones

Capstones unlock sequentially as you purchase nodes from the main tree. These activate at node milestones automatically:

• I – Specialized: ROOK starts runs with Runner Cores. Sekiguchi barters wares for certain Deluxe Salvage.
• II – Treasure Hunter: +20% faction reputation from SekGen treasures. Speeds up the grind toward higher ranks.
• III – Sponsorship: Unlocks Sekiguchi Advanced Sponsored Kit for Armory purchase. Sekiguchi barters wares for certain Superior Salvage.
• IV – Commission: SekGen standard contracts now award Cores in addition to other rewards. Passive core income just from running contracts.
• V – QUIET_EXIT.EXE: ROOK gains Signal Mask effects after activating an exfil. Reduces detection during extraction – less chance of getting hunted at the exit.
• VI – Core All: Unlocks Superior Cores for every Runner shell in the Armory. Sekiguchi barters wares for certain Prestige Salvage. This is the endgame capstone – Superior Cores are the highest tier available.

Why SekGen Matters for Builds

Every other faction gives you stats, weapons, or survival tools. Sekiguchi gives you the parts that make your shell's abilities function at full potential. Without cores, your Destroyer's tactical works at baseline. With Deluxe or Superior Cores, that same tactical gains additional effects, stat boosts for allies, or entirely new interactions.

Implants from SekGen aren't just "nice to have" either. Augmented Capacitors increase how much energy you can store, meaning bigger ability chains. Energy Harvesting lets you refuel faster from salvage nodes. Combined with TAC_AMP.EXE and PRIME_AMP.EXE reducing cooldowns, a maxed SekGen tree turns any shell into an ability-spamming machine.

LETHAL_AMP.EXE at Rank 25 is the node that PvP-focused players obsess over. Every down feeds your tactical. Every kill feeds your prime. In chaotic squad fights, this means you're cycling abilities constantly while opponents running without it go dry.

Players who've already pushed CyberAcme for vault and credits should look at SekGen next if they care about build optimization. Economic foundation from CyAc supports the expensive late-game SekGen nodes that demand Synapse Cube and Alien Alloy.
