What Are Recon Mastery Skins in Marathon?

Recon is one of seven Runner shells, built around Tracker Drone (tactical) and Echo Pulse (prime). Like every shell, it has two Codex sections:

• Orientation – 20 exfils, 50 Tracker Drone uses, 25 Echo Pulse uses. Rewards: Fourth Eye emblem, Echo Pulse background.
• Mastery – Five challenges (Tracker Drone and Echo Pulse intel/combat conditions). All five → Shadow Index shell style.

In-game these are "styles"; we use "skins" for search. Progress is permanent.

All 5 Recon Mastery Challenges

1. Target Rich Environment – Ping 10 or more hostiles with a single Echo Pulse.
2. Reversal of Fortune – Defeat a Runner within 30 seconds of detecting a ping.
3. Splash – Hit 3 hostiles with a single Tracker Drone.
4. Trifecta – Defeat 3 Runners during a single Echo Pulse activation.
5. Nowhere to Hide – Hit a hostile with Tracker Drone while a TAD is active.

Completing all five triggers the meta challenge APEX PREDATOR and awards Shadow Index mastery shell style permanently. Trifecta is the standout difficulty spike – you need three kills in one Echo Pulse window, which is why our runners set up grouped fights around Pulse cooldowns.

Orientation Challenges

• Recon Exfil (0/20) – Exfiltrate 20 times using Recon shell.
• Tactical Recon (0/50) – Use Tracker Drone 50 times across all runs.
• Prime Recon (0/25) – Use Echo Pulse 25 times across all runs.
