Tempest Keep: The Eye is located in Netherstorm and served as one of the primary Tier 5 raids of The Burning Crusade. While Serpentshrine Cavern focused on Lady Vashj and the naga threat, Tempest Keep told the story of Kael'thas Sunstrider and his growing alliance with the Burning Legion.

The raid contains four encounters, each introducing unique mechanics that pushed raid groups far beyond what they had experienced in Karazhan, Gruul's Lair, or Magtheridon's Lair.

The first encounter, Al'ar, remains one of the most recognizable bosses in TBC. This massive phoenix moves between platforms before eventually entering a ground phase, forcing players to adapt to changing positioning requirements throughout the fight.

Next comes Void Reaver, a giant naaru-forged construct whose Arcane Orb mechanic punished poor positioning and awareness. While mechanically simpler than other encounters in the raid, Void Reaver quickly became known for exposing weak raid discipline.

The third boss, High Astromancer Solarian, shifts between phases that require players to handle arcane damage, adds, and large-scale raid movement. During progression, Solarian represented a major obstacle for many guilds attempting to reach Kael'thas.

Everything culminates in the legendary encounter against Kael'thas Sunstrider. Widely considered one of the most ambitious raid fights Blizzard had ever created at the time, the encounter consists of multiple phases, legendary weapons, advisor battles, phoenixes, gravity-defying mechanics, and some of the most memorable dialogue in Warcraft history.

For many guilds, defeating Kael'thas represented the final challenge before entering Mount Hyjal and Black Temple progression.

Tempest Keep is also famous for its loot table. The raid drops Tier 5 class tokens, powerful trinkets, weapons, armor pieces, and crafting materials. Several items remained best-in-slot for long periods, making The Eye one of the most heavily farmed raids throughout TBC.

One of the most sought-after rewards is The Eye of Tempest Keep, which starts the legendary quest chain for Thori'dal, the Stars' Fury, while Kael'thas himself drops numerous highly desirable weapons and caster items.
