• Unlock Trial: We complete the prerequisite steps so The Windward Wilds appears in your Duty Finder. Helpful if you've returned mid-event or haven't finished the unlock chain; we confirm any blocking requirements before we begin.
• 20,000,000 Gil: Optional and separate from the trial. Delivered in-game to the character and World you specify, using a safe method at an agreed time.

The Windward Wilds is a level-100 trial added in Patch 7.35 as the crossover duty featuring Guardian Arkveld. It is available in Normal and Extreme and unlocks through the event questline (players typically reach it after finishing Dawntrail's MSQ and the “White Wanderer” step). The duty is time-bound to the collaboration window and comes with its own reward track and exchange items.

The encounter mixes familiar FFXIV trial structure with a few event-specific twists. In Extreme, Arkveld is fought in a circular arena with a lethal outer ring; many mechanics read off the boss's animations rather than castbars, and all players receive limited Mega Potion charges plus a passive steak regen buff—so survival depends on clean positioning and disciplined item use. These elements nod to the collab's source material while keeping the clear squarely within XIV's pacing.

Clears feed the collaboration loot pool: event tokens/totems, appearance items, and upgrade paths for Veldian/Augmented Veldian gear; farming Extreme also ties to certificate drops used for Augmented upgrades. Minions, a mount, and housing/framing items rotate with the event's rewards list for your region.
