Vault 01 is the simplest Vault in Cryo Archives. It opens fast, has no additional credential steps, and guarantees a unique weapon on every clear.
It also drops an AI Subroutine used for Vault 7 progression. You only need one successful extract for it to register in your Codex, and it does not have to be you. If one player in your squad extracts with it, the entire fireteam gets progress.
Vault 01 fits short runs. It is used to farm weapons, build salvage, valuables/treasures, and start Compiler progression.
Where Is Vault 01 Located?
Vault 01 sits between Index, Revival, and the central Control room.

That central position is the entire story of this Vault. Vault 01 is easy to reach, easy to open, and easy to finish, but it is almost never quiet. Players rotate through this area all match long, so the more time you spend inside or around the entrance, the more likely another squad is already moving toward you.

The upside is that Vault 01 is easy and therefore completes very quickly compared to later Vaults. This can be one of the fastest farms on the map.
How To Open Vault 01
You need a Vault 01 Key, and 5 Batteries.

Vault 01 Key is best farmed through Lockdown. You’ll also get them from Wardens, elite UESC enemies, events such as Convoy or Intercept, locked key rooms and other players. A very common way to loot a Vault 01 Key is getting it from a hostile Runner who already did the whole grind for you.

Batteries are everywhere. They are mostly ground drop, and you’ll find plenty in side rooms and maintenance corridors. You pick them up naturally while moving, and it’s common to grab a few more from other Runners along the way. If you're struggling to find any, use Scanner Terminals to scan nearby area. Batteries should show up on your map that way.
When you arrive, insert Batteries, then use the key.
Sometimes you’ll find part of this already done. That means someone is close and the Vault is contested.
The moment you start opening the Vault, it plays a clear audio cue. Same type of signal as high-value locked rooms on other maps. Anyone nearby hears it and starts moving toward you.

When you enter, you’ll see a screen showing a symbol. That mechanic matters for later Vaults, where you must activate only terminals matching that symbol. This doesn't matter for Vault 01 at all, as you just need to activate the three red terminals, and the Vault below is yours to loot.
Spread out, check the upper and lower levels, climb the ladders up and down, and you’ll find all three terminals within seconds.
But here's the problem. You can lose the key before you even reach Cryo Archives. You can lose it on the way to the Vault. You can open everything fast, clean, and still get killed by other Runners while looting or extracting. You might not even get the key in the first place.
If you want this done without gambling keys and resetting your progress, this is exactly where LevelUpper's Marathon boosting service can help you out.
We offer Compiler kill runs with an option to collect all required AI Subroutines, so your account unlocks Vault 07 without grinding the entire chain yourself.
And if you’re not pushing progression and just want consistent value, we also offer Cryo Archive loot runs focused on fast clears, weapon farming, and safe extraction without risking your hard-earned gear. With our services, you gain guaranteed gear and credit value improvement for your later runs.
Vault 01 Rewards
DRRVISH, a unique version of a BRRT SMG, and the AI Subroutine for Vault 01 are guaranteed.

The AI Subroutine only needs to be extracted once to count toward Vault 07 progression in Codex, and it applies to the entire squad if one player gets out with it.

DRRVISH, a unique BRRT SMG variant, fires at 1000 RPM and comes with a 45-round magazine.
It includes the Flechette Split Action mod, which increases stability, handling, and accuracy when firing from the hip, and enables Hypertemporal Shot, firing all 5 rounds of a burst at once in a tight spread.
On top of that, the mod reduces hipfire spread, improves equip speed, and significantly lowers recoil.
Beyond that, most of the loot comes in the form of Superior and Prestige salvage, including items like the Synapse Cube, along with valuables and treasures.
You’ll also find purple shields, implants, mods, and weapons. Yellow versions of gear can appear, but they are not common.

Once you finish looting, do not go back the way you came. Use the vent inside the Vault, drop down, and move out from underneath.
The entrance side can have UESC adds active, and other Runners moving through after hearing the Vault open. Walking back into that puts you into unnecessary fights.
From below, head to the nearest Exfil Terminal, activate a Secret Exfil, and go straight to the exit. You’ll need Security Clearance Level 3 to use the terminal, which you should already have by this point. Finish the run and lock in the rewards.
