Reality of the Predator Grind

Apex Predator is the highest rank in the game, reserved strictly for the top 750 players on your specific platform (PC, PlayStation, or Xbox).

Players in Master and Predator are ranked globally via their current RP and are exempt from the usual promotion and demotion procedures of lower tiers.

Because rank is defined by a player count rather than a static number, the RP needed to enter Predator climbs every single day.

Early in a 45-day ranked split, the top 750 sits very close to the 16000 RP Master floor.

By the final weeks of the split, the leaderboard compresses, and you need significantly more RP to break in.

Players who wait until the end of the split to push find themselves fighting a massive RP deficit with no room for error.

RP System and cost of Loss

Every time you queue into a Master lobby, the game deducts a 90 RP entry cost. If your squad dies off the drop, you take a flat -90 RP loss.

To break even or gain RP, you have to balance placement with eliminations. Kills and assists are worth very little if you die early.

Their RP value scales up significantly as you reach the top 10, top 5, and top 3 squads. However, the system soft-caps your team's eliminations: after your squad secures 8 kills, the RP value of any further kills or assists is cut in half.

This structure forces a specific playstyle. You cannot W-key every fight to climb. You have to survive into the late game, secure high placement, and win the final fights. Solo queueing makes this difficult because one uncoordinated rotation or bad drop costs you 90 RP instantly.

Ranked Rewards and Splits

Apex seasons typically last about three months, divided into two ranked splits. Your season-end rewards are tied to the highest rank you reach across either split.

If you secure Predator, you will receive the season-end Predator badge and the Epic Predator banner frame (which replaced dive trails as the primary cosmetic reward).

If you manage to hit Predator in both splits of the season, your badge upgrades to a fully animated version. You also get red Predator aura, which displays your rank during matches while you actively hold the top 750 slot.
