How to Get Account XP fast in Apex

Account XP stacks up from staying alive longer and completing objectives during match.

Main sources of experience are:

• Win the match: 900 XP
• Top 5 finish: 300 XP
• Time survived: 3 XP per second your squad stays alive
• Respawn a teammate: 200 XP
• First kill of the day: 500 XP
• Each kill: 50 XP
• Playing with friends: +5% to +10% survival XP bonus

Account Levels Rewards in Apex Legends

Apex Legends hands you rewards on the way up the level track:

• Legend Tokens: 600 every level from level 4 onward
• Apex Packs: one per level from 2 to 20, then one every 2 levels to 300, then every 5 levels to 500
• Gun charms: a level charm at 100, 200, 300, 400, and 500
• Level badges: a new badge every 10 levels from 110 to 500
• Account level cap: 2000, across four 500-level prestige tiers

A new legend costs 12000 Legend Tokens, so a push to level 20 banks 10200 tokens, with a full unlock landing around level 23.

Road to Ranked and Ranked Access

A brand-new account cannot open Ranked right away. The Season 20 Takeover update (February 2025) added two gates a fresh account has to clear first:

• Reach account level 20
• Finish all three Road to Ranked challenge sets in Battle Royale

If you want to queue Ranked as a squad, every teammate has to finish their own Road to Ranked first.

Older accounts that already had Ranked before this update keep their access and skip the whole thing.

You will still run into the old "level 50" answer in guides and Reddit threads, and it was correct from May 2023 until early 2025, but the rule for new accounts today is level 20 plus the challenge track as per EA's official Apex Ranked page.

Getting to level 20 takes roughly 152,400 XP. That usually works out to 40 to 60 Battle Royale matches, or somewhere around 15+ hours depending on how long you live and where you place, with Road to Ranked tasks adding time on top.

Once Ranked is open, you can move on to a rank boost if you want to climb the divisions without grinding through Bronze and Diamond yourself.

Why Players Level Their Account

Smurfs and alt accounts make up most of the demand. A strong player on a fresh account still has to grind to level 20 and finish the Road to Ranked challenges before competitive opens, and none of that skill shortcut counts toward the gate.

We clear it so they can drop into ranked lobbies instead of farming pubs.

Returning players run into the same wall. An old account that never passed level 20 has to work through full Road to Ranked flow, same as a brand-new profile.

A smaller group simply wants the rewards. Pushing toward level 100, 500, or higher stacks Apex Packs, Legend Tokens, and prestige badges on a side account. That is a longer grind than a quick ranked unlock, so plan the target level accordingly.
