The Shaper is one of the most demanding and well-known boss fights in Path of Exile. Located in the Shaper's Realm, this fight will test your build's damage, survivability, and mechanical skill across multiple phases. To reach the Shaper, you must first defeat the 4 Guardian map bosses and obtain their fragments. Then, you use those fragments in your map device to open portals to the Shaper's Realm. This level 84 area is one of the highest-level areas in the game.

The Shaper fight has 3 main phases, with intermissions in between. Throughout the fight, you'll need to dodge many deadly attacks. The Shaper Beam is a powerful attack that deals massive cold damage over time. The Teleport Slam is the Shaper disappearing and reappearing to do a physical damage attack. You'll also need to avoid cold projectiles, persistent vortexes that deal cold damage over time, and the infamous Bullet Hell phase, where the whole arena is filled with projectiles.

Between phases, the Shaper teleports you to side areas where you must kill additional bosses before returning to the main arena. During these transitions, the Shaper regenerates health, so you need to get back to the arena as fast as possible. The Shaper fight is known for its complexity and requires precise movement. Dodging the Shaper Beam and Teleport Slam is critical to survival. During the Bullet Hell phase, you need to use Zana's bubble shield to avoid massive damage.

You can access the Uber Shaper fight using 5 Cosmic Fragments in the map device for an even more significant challenge. This version has more boss health and damage, additional mechanics, and more loot. Beating the Shaper is a significant milestone in Path of Exile; it will open up more items and endgame content.
