The Messenger is a High-Impact Frame Pulse Rifle that drops exclusively from Trials of Osiris — Destiny 2's competitive 3v3 PvP mode. Originally from Destiny 1, it returned in Season 13 and has since become one of the most dominant pulse rifles in the game. You can obtain it through post-match drops, engram turn-ins at Saint-14, or by focusing Trials engrams. The Adept version is only available on specific weeks as a Flawless reward after completing a 7-win Passage without any losses.

Once unlocked, The Messenger can be focused at Saint-14 using Trials engrams, Glimmer, and Legendary Shards. Whether you're hunting a PvP god roll or a backup for Kinetic slot damage in PvE, it's one of the most in-demand weapons among competitive players — and for good reason.

This weapon truly shines in PvP. With excellent base range, impressive stability for its archetype, and access to perks like Desperado and Rapid Hit, The Messenger is built for duels, team fights, and lane control. Its ability to kill in just two bursts (under certain conditions) gives it a serious advantage in Trials, Control, and Survival. In PvE, its performance is more situational. While it's not a top-tier add-clear weapon, Kinetic Tremors and stable burst output give it utility in high-difficulty content, especially with champion mods or solo builds.

This roll pushes the weapon's strengths to the limit. Arrowhead Break fixes The Messenger's natural recoil direction, making it much easier to control burst patterns. Ricochet Rounds provide a boost to range and stability, both crucial for Pulse Rifles in competitive play. Rapid Hit is nearly mandatory — increasing reload speed and stability with every precision hit, ensuring consistency. Desperado drastically increases the rate of fire after a precision kill, lowering TTK to around 0.5s — a deadly trait in Trials. Headseeker is a safer alternative for players who want extra forgiveness in burst accuracy.

While not the most popular PvE option, The Messenger can hold its own in Grandmasters or Legend Lost Sectors. Arrowhead Break is still the best barrel for recoil control, while Appended Mag adds extra shots per reload — useful for triggering Kinetic Tremors, which activate after sustained bursts. This perk deals AoE damage without requiring kills, making it a solid passive DPS boost in endgame PvE. Pair it with Rapid Hit to keep reloads smooth and increase overall uptime.
