Sporefall is a new one-boss raid introduced in WoW Midnight Patch 12.0.7. The encounter takes place deep beneath the fungal growths spreading through the Harandar zones, where players face Rotmire — a massive creature capable of rapidly spawning and empowering dangerous fungal minions.

- Boss: Rotmire (Single-boss raid)
- Location: Harandar (near the Grudge Pit,
/way 45.2 71.8) - Mythic Format: Mythic Flex (scales from 15 to 25 players)
- Notable Loot: Sporefused Gear (ilvl 259 - 298), Rotmire's Fungal Heart (BiS Tank Trinket), Void-Twisted Sporbit
Unlike traditional raids with multiple encounters, Sporefall focuses entirely on a single fight built around raid-wide damage, add control, positioning, and increasing battlefield pressure as the encounter progresses.
While Normal version introduces the core mechanics, Heroic and Mythic difficulties expand on them significantly, requiring much tighter coordination from tanks, healers, and DPS players alike.

Quick Rotmire Strategy Guide
- Tanks: Swap on every cast of Putrid Fist. Group adds tightly for cleave.
- Healers: Save major cooldowns for Fungal Bloom (cast at 100 energy). Spot-heal players with Festering Vines.
- DPS: Boss damage is secondary. You must kill all Shroomlings and Funglings before the boss reaches 100 energy, or they heal to full and wipe the raid.
- Everyone: Drop Festering Vines at the edges of the room. Don't stand in exploding mushrooms.
Core Encounter Loop
Rotmire is an energy-based fight. The boss slowly fills to 100 energy, at which point he detonates Fungal Bloom. This is the central wipe condition of the fight. If any adds spawned by Awaken Fungi are still alive when Bloom goes off, they are fully healed and empowered by Fungal Frenzy, usually resulting in a wipe.
Throughout the fight, the raid will take constantly increasing damage from Rotting Pustules, acting as a soft enrage. The longer the fight goes on, the harder it becomes to survive.
Healer Guide
On Normal difficulty, healers mainly need to prepare for steady raid-wide damage and avoid getting overwhelmed during Fungal Bloom phases.
- Fungal Bloom: Deals heavy Nature damage to the entire raid and continues damaging players over 16 seconds. Assign specific raid cooldowns (like Tranquility or Spirit Link Totem) to each Bloom cast.
- Festering Vines: Several players will periodically receive Festering Vines, taking constant damage while slowed by 30%. When the effect expires, it leaves behind Writhing Vines. Players must spread properly before the effect ends to avoid cutting off movement lanes for the raid.
- Rotting Pustules: Every burst applies a stacking DoT to the raid. The longer the fight goes, the harder it gets to keep the raid alive. This is your soft enrage.

Heroic Changes for Healers:
Sporecaps spawn alongside other minions. They inflict heavy Nature damage to all players with their Poison Burst and snipe random players with Blightshot. Healing cooldowns must be mapped around Bloom + Sporecap overlap windows.
Mythic Changes for Healers:
Healers must prepare for extremely high raid damage if Doom Shrooms appear through Cross Fertilization. Managing cooldowns during Bursting Doom Shroom and overlapping poison effects is critical, as the DoT damage can quickly overwhelm the raid.
Tank Guide
Tanks mainly deal with Putrid Fist and positioning fungal minions correctly.
- Putrid Fist: Hits extremely hard and applies a stacking debuff that increases Physical damage taken by 75% for 14 seconds. Tanks must swap on every single cast. Do not try to survive two hits in a row with cooldowns.
- Boss Positioning: Keep Rotmire positioned carefully with his back turned to the raid. Avoid dragging the boss through areas filled with Writhing Vines or Bursting Shrooms, as melee DPS need safe spaces to stand.
- Add Control: Awaken Fungi creates minions (Shroomlings and Funglings). Tanks need to help group these up so DPS can cleave them down before Fungal Bloom.

Heroic Changes for Tanks:
Rotmire spawns more adds, including Sporecaps. Tanks must position minions carefully so melee DPS have a safe kill zone that doesn't overlap with dangerous ground effects.
Mythic Changes for Tanks:
Tanks must carefully position Shroomlings and Funglings to prevent their corpses from touching. If they die within 10 yards of each other, they trigger Cross Fertilization and spawn a Doom Shroom, which usually causes a wipe.
DPS Guide
For DPS players, the fight is mostly about controlling fungal minions while staying aware of positioning. Boss damage is secondary to add cleanup.
- Add Priority: Whenever Awaken Fungi is cast, fungal adds spawn and begin pursuing players. These adds must be killed efficiently before the next Fungal Bloom phase begins. If they survive, they heal to full and gain Fungal Frenzy.
- Positioning: One of the biggest mistakes is ignoring positioning while focusing too much on damage. Festering Vines leaves behind damaging ground effects, and dead fungal minions create Bursting Shrooms that later explode.
- Bloom Survival: During Fungal Bloom, incoming raid damage increases significantly. Use personal defensives here and avoid standing near exploding mushrooms.

Heroic Changes for DPS:
Sporecaps are dangerous adds that come with Awaken Fungi. Their main ability, Poison Burst, applies stacking raid-wide Nature damage. DPS must focus them down immediately and interrupt their casts.
Mythic Changes for DPS:
DPS players need to focus heavily on add management and corpse positioning. Killing Shroomlings and Funglings within 10 yards of each other will trigger Cross Fertilization. You must split the adds into designated kill zones.
Sporefall Loot & Rewards
Sporefall drops Sporefused gear. This gear drops at the maximum item level for its respective track, meaning it requires absolutely no upgrade currency (like Crests or Valorstones) to max out.
| Difficulty | Item Level | Gear Track Equivalent |
|---|---|---|
| Raid Finder | 259 | Veteran 6/6 |
| Normal | 272 | Champion 6/6 |
| Heroic | 285 | Hero 6/6 |
| Mythic Flex | 298 | Myth 6/6 |
Additionally, completing the quest Sporefall: Rotmire rewards a Void-Twisted Sporbit, which can be converted into a Nebulous Voidcore for Midnight's bonus roll system.

FAQ
What is Mythic Flex in Sporefall?
Sporefall is the first raid in World of Warcraft history to feature a flexible Mythic difficulty. Instead of requiring exactly 20 players, Mythic Rotmire scales dynamically for any group size between 15 and 25 players. Boss health, damage, and the number of add spawns adjust based on your raid size.
What is the biggest reason groups wipe on Rotmire?
The most common wipe condition is failing to kill the Shroomling and Fungling adds before Rotmire reaches 100 energy and casts Fungal Bloom. Any adds alive when this cast goes off are fully healed and empowered, which quickly overwhelms the tanks and healers.
How does Cross Fertilization work on Mythic?
On Mythic difficulty, if a Shroomling corpse and a Fungling corpse are within 10 yards of each other, they trigger Cross Fertilization. This spawns a Doom Shroom that deals massive raid-wide damage and applies a lethal DoT. The raid must assign separate kill zones for each add type.
Do weapons drop in the Sporefall raid?
No. Rotmire's loot table includes 11 armor slots across all armor types, a neck piece, a ring, and a trinket, but no weapons. However, the gear drops at the absolute maximum item level for its track (Sporefused), saving you weeks of upgrade grinding.
Can tanks survive Putrid Fist without swapping?
No. Putrid Fist applies a 75% Physical damage taken increase for 14 seconds. Taking a second hit with this debuff active is almost guaranteed to be fatal, even through major defensive cooldowns. Tanks must swap on every cast.
Is it worth doing Sporefall every week?
Yes. Even if you don't need the gear drops, completing the raid grants a weekly quest item that converts into a Nebulous Voidcore, which is highly valuable for the Season 1 bonus roll system.
