Midnight Season 1 Final Raid

March on Quel'Danas is the third and final raid of WoW Midnight Season 1, bringing players back to the Isle of Quel'Danas for a two-boss instance that concludes the expansion's opening story arc. Unlike Voidspire's six-boss progression or Dreamrift's single encounter, this raid focuses entirely on stopping Xal'atath from completing her corruption of the Sunwell.

The raid unlocks March 31, 2026, opening on all difficulties simultaneously. This compressed format means no waiting for Mythic - guilds and groups race for Cutting Edge from day one, and the Ashes of Belo'ren mount becomes immediately available.

Belo'ren: The Void Phoenix

The first encounter pits players against Belo'ren, a phoenix from Al'ar's final clutch. Originally raised to defend the Sunwell, Belo'ren has been twisted by void corruption and now guards the entrance to the corrupted sanctum.

The fight alternates between Light-dominant and Void-dominant phases. Players receive a feather attunement that reduces damage from matching sources - stand in the wrong element and you'll melt. Orbs, walls, and beams are color-coded (gold for Light, purple for Void), requiring constant awareness of which phase you're in and where to position.

Belo'ren doesn't die cleanly. Killing the boss triggers a rebirth mechanic tied to the phoenix's egg, demanding precise positioning during the final moments or the raid gets overwhelmed by adds. Groups that don't respect the egg placement wipe repeatedly to what looks like a dead boss.

Midnight Falls: The Darkwell

The final boss encounter doesn't feature a traditional named enemy. Instead, players fight Midnight Falls itself - the corrupted Sunwell transformed into the Darkwell by the Dark Naaru L'ura. This is the same Naaru from Seat of the Triumvirate that empowered Alleria, now twisted further by Xal'atath's manipulation.

The encounter unfolds across multiple escalating stages with no clean resets between them. Mechanics like The Black Aperture, Oblivion's Mirror, and The Darkwell cascade into each other. Execute poorly in phase one and you'll drag that damage through every subsequent phase until the raid crumbles.

Mythic adds the Midnight Archangel - an additional phase that functions as both a burn and survival check. Poor execution earlier makes this phase nearly impossible. This is widely considered the hardest encounter in Season 1, even compared to Crown of the Cosmos in Voidspire.

The Mount Everyone Wants

Ashes of Belo'ren drops from Midnight Falls on Mythic difficulty with a 100% drop rate during the current tier. Three copies drop per 20-player raid, which means politics and drama for guild groups. Once Season 2 releases, drop rate plummets to roughly 1%, turning this into a multi-year farm.

The mount combines void-touched blue with the blazing yellow of a corrupted phoenix - a striking visual callback to Ashes of Al'ar from Tempest Keep, but with Midnight's void aesthetic layered on top. For collectors, this is the headline trophy of Season 1.
