DCONs (also known as Deconstructive Transmitters) are one of those systems you interact with almost immediately in Marathon, but the game barely explains what’s actually happening.
You get a contract, it says “deliver”, you find a terminal, and that’s about all the guidance you get. From there, it’s easy to waste materials without realizing it.
This guide covers how DCONs actually work, what they are used for, and where to find them on every map.
DCONs and How They Work
DCONs are in-raid delivery terminals used for contracts. You bring required items, deposit them, and they get processed on the spot.
Items placed into a DCON are permanently removed. They do not go to your vault, cannot be recovered, and only exist to complete objectives.
You will see DCON usage a lot in priority/primary contracts. These quests progress the story, award a good bunch of materials, and unlock useful entries in your arsenal.
Traxus’ Equitable Distribution 1 (Self-Erasing Data Drive), Equitable Distribution 3 (Unstable Gunmetal), NuCaloric’s Nano Metrics I, MIDA’s Protect/Destroy 1, Sekiguchi’s Parasitism 1, and Traxus’ Return on Investment 4 all require proper DCON deliveries to move forward.

A lot of standard contracts also ask you to dump Salvage into DCONs. While priority contracts that require deliveries are always worth completing, repeatable ones are a different story. We suggest skipping repeatable DCON contracts entirely unless you’ve already used that specific Salvage for all required faction upgrades.
Even then, dumping Salvage you don't need for upgrades into a DCON is usually not the best use. The same materials often bring more value through daily barters in the Arsenal, where you can trade them for weapons, gear, and useful consumables.
There’s a short transfer animation after submission. It takes a few seconds, and during that time the delivery is not finalized. If your squad gets wiped before it completes, the contract does not progress and the items are already gone.
Perimeter DCON Locations
Perimeter has four DCONs, all placed along the outer edges of the map.

North Relay is in the northwest corner on top of a small isolated building.
Station is on a rooftop near the rock wall side of the POI.
South Relay sits at the southern edge in a dead-end section.
Overflow is on the western side, connected by a bridge away from the main structure.
Dire Marsh DCON Locations
Dire Marsh has three DCONs, all spread far apart across the map.

Greenhouse is located at Bunker-5 on the northwest side.
Quarantine is at Bunker-3 on the western edge.
The third DCON is east of AI Uplink near the road leading out from Complex.
Outpost DCON Locations
Outpost has three DCONs placed around the outer parts of the map.

Airfield is inside a warehouse on the western side.
Orientation is next to the long white building between Orientation and Dormitories and sits close to a guarded extraction.
Processing is located in a container section near the loading bay.
Need Help With DCON Contracts?
Some DCON contracts like Return on Investment 4/5 require collecting rare Salvage from multiple contested POIs and delivering everything in a single run.
If your attempt didn’t work out or you just don’t feel like running it again, we offer LevelUpper's Marathon boosting service that completes any contract for you on Steam, PS or XBox. We offer different boosting methods according to your preferences like Piloted (we play on your account) or Selfplay (you stay in control while we guide and assist you in-game), as well as plenty of other Marathon services.

FAQ
A DCON is an in-raid delivery terminal used to submit items for contracts. You place required items inside it during a run to complete objectives.
DCON deliveries are only completed after the short transfer animation finishes. If you get eliminated before it completes, the contract will not update.
Items placed into a DCON are permanently consumed and do not transfer to your vault.
Priority contracts that require DCON deliveries are worth completing for progression. Repeatable Salvage turn-ins are usually not worth it unless you no longer need those materials.
After the transfer animation completes and the delivery is processed, you can use the same DCON again as many times as needed during that run.
