Many players assume crafting is only useful during the first few weeks of a season. In reality, crafted items continue to play a major role throughout the entire expansion thanks to customizable secondary stats, powerful embellishments, and item level that can reach up to 285.
While Rotmire now drops some of the strongest gear available in Midnight, crafted gear remains the easiest way to target specific upgrades without relying on raid drops or weekly vault luck.

What Is Crafted Gear?
Crafted gear is equipment created through the profession system and obtained via Crafting Orders.
Unlike raid or dungeon loot, crafted items allow players to choose their preferred secondary stats and add special effects known as Embellishments. This flexibility makes crafted gear one of the most reliable ways to improve a character, especially when RNG refuses to cooperate.
Another major advantage is that crafted gear can be upgraded later. Instead of replacing an item every few weeks, players can invest additional resources and continue improving the same piece throughout the season.
Why Crafted Gear Is So Powerful
Crafted gear also provides access to Embellishments, unique effects that often become part of a specialization's best-in-slot setup. In many cases, players continue wearing crafted pieces even after obtaining higher item level alternatives simply because the Embellishment effect is so valuable.
Crafting is also one of the best ways to solve gearing problems. Missing a weapon upgrade? Need a specific stat combination? Can't get a ring to drop from your weekly vault? Crafted gear gives you a guaranteed solution.
How Crafting Orders Work
Crafting Orders allow players to request items from crafters without leveling professions themselves.
To create an order:
1.Visit a Crafting Order NPC.
2.Select the item you want crafted.
3.Provide the required materials.
4.Add your Spark of Radiance, a bunch of Dawncrests and any optional reagents.
5.Submit the order (Usual fee for commision is usually revolves around 500-1000 gold).
Players can create Public, Guild, or Personal Orders.
Public Orders can be completed by any eligible crafter, while Personal Orders are sent directly to a specific player and are usually preferred when crafting high-end gear.
What Are Sparks of Radiance?
Sparks of Radiance are the most important crafting reagent in Midnight Season 1.
Every piece of endgame crafted gear requires a Spark, making them the foundation of the entire crafting system.
Players primarily obtain Sparks through Liadrin's weekly activities and associated world content.
Because Sparks are time-gated, spending them wisely is extremely important. Most players only have enough Sparks to craft a handful of premium items, making every decision matter.
What Are Hero and Myth Dawncrests?
Dawncrests determine how powerful your crafted gear can become.
Every crafted endgame item requires a Spark of Radiance, but if you want the item to reach competitive endgame item levels, you'll also need Dawncrests.
There are currently two Dawncrest tiers used for high-end crafting:
- 80 Hero Dawncrests → creates gear up to item level 272
- 80 Myth Dawncrests → creates gear up to item level 285
Without any Dawncrests, crafted gear is limited to item level 259.
This means players looking to maximize their crafted items should always plan around collecting enough Dawncrests before spending valuable Sparks. A fully upgraded 285 crafted piece remains a powerful upgrade for many classes, especially when combined with optimal secondary stats and strong Embellishments.
What Are Embellishments?
Embellishments are special effects that can be added to crafted gear.
Unlike normal secondary stats, Embellishments provide unique bonuses that directly affect gameplay.
Depending on your specialization, these effects can increase damage, improve survivability, or provide additional utility.
Players can only benefit from a limited number of Embellishments at the same time, which is why choosing the correct combination is so important.
For many classes, the right Embellishment setup is one of the biggest reasons crafted gear remains relevant throughout the entire season.
Which Crafted Item Should Be Your First Spark?
For most players, the best first crafts are:
- Weapons
- Embellishment pieces
- Rings
- Necklaces
These slots usually provide the highest value because they either offer large stat increases or unlock powerful Embellishment effects.
Tier slots are generally lower priority since they can be acquired through raids and the Catalyst system.
Rotmire and Patch 12.0.7
Patch 12.0.7 introduced Rotmire and item level 298 raid loot, changing the gearing landscape significantly.
Crafted gear is no longer the absolute highest item level available. However, it remains one of the strongest gearing tools in Midnight because it provides guaranteed stat combinations, powerful Embellishments, and reliable upgrades for slots where raid drops refuse to cooperate.
