The first Midnight Season One update is on its way and releasing on April 21st! Although we’re not getting new raids or dungeons, plenty of new activities are about to arrive.
Alongside new gameplay features, these types of updates usually focus on game changes based on player feedback, which includes class tuning, some new achievements, and raid and M+ adjustments.
Stopping Void Assaults
Void Assaults are a new type of open-world activity in World of Warcraft: Midnight that take place across Eversong Woods and Zul’Aman, which are affected by Void corruption.
Not that we haven’t faced assault mechanics before, but this one in particular comes in parts - Void Strikes come first and appear either in Eversong Woods or Zul’Aman, according to a weekly rotation. Once one is cleared, the other one begins. Once players have completed enough strikes, Void Incursions occur. These are scenarios that require more players to participate, similar to Stormarion Assault.

There are some small tips on how to speed up the event bar. Some enemies and structures directly influence how fast the event progresses. Closing rifts and prioritizing important targets speeds things up, while ignoring them causes the area to become more crowded and harder to manage.
Field Accolade is a new currency introduced in Patch 12.0.5 that can be used to purchase various rewards such as the Unbound Manawyrm mount, various transmog sets, pets and more. Field Accolades can be earned from participation in Void Strikes and Incursions, by exchanging 100 Dark Particles, and from Ritual Sites.
Building the Voidforge
To start participating, you should complete the Building the Voidforge questline that was introduced with the original Midnight patch.
This activity is mainly focused on improving your gear and getting additional rewards from content you’re already doing. It replaces the old bonus roll system and ties directly into endgame activities like raids, Mythic+, and other sources of loot.

Decimus is the one responsible for the Voidforge. He needs 6 Elemental Voidcores to build it. To create an Elemental Voidcore, 3 Elemental Voidcore Shards are needed. Once you have all 6 Voidcores, you can spend them in two main ways.
The first is bonus rolls. Decimus will offer Nebulous Voidcores (2 per week per character). After completing certain content, you can spend this currency to get another chance at loot from that encounter. Beware - bonus items from raids require 2 Nebulous Voidcores.
The second is item upgrades. Ascendant Voidcores can be used to upgrade your gear and are earned through completing Midnight content such as raids, Mythic+, Bountiful Delves, and Nightmare-difficulty Prey.
Important: Ascendant Voidcores can be used on weapons and trinkets only.
Disrupting Ritual Sites
Ritual Sites are a new open-world activity, similar to delves and world events, built around Void rituals and once again taking place in Eversong Woods and Zul’Aman. These events are tied to structures like the Curious Obelisk, which acts as the entry point into the activity.
Each Ritual Site is centered around an obelisk. When you approach it, you can activate the ritual and choose the challenges.
The system lets you increase difficulty before starting. The more you invest into the ritual, the harder it becomes. There are 5 tiers, where 3rd, 4th, and 5th tiers include one, two, or three challenges accordingly. Completing the activity on any tier unlocks the following tier, just like it does in Delves.

There are 8 challenges in total, a familiar mechanic for players that have visited Horrific Visions at least once. Each challenge has its own requirement for unlocking.
The encounter plays out in phases. Enemies start spawning around the site, and by killing them, players earn Spoils, which affect the reward from the ritual crest. Some enemies drop more Spoils, and focusing the wrong targets can slow down the event or make it harder.
Important: Dying is not recommended. Each death (excluding the first two) reduces your Spoils by 5%.
Similar to Prey or Delves, Ritual Sites have their own renown that includes 8 tiers and guarantees a bunch of rewards.
Hide or Seek - Decor Duel Edition
Something to cheer yourself up a bit - Decor Duels. Instead of fighting enemies, you’re now obliged to hide from them.
Duels can be found in the Player vs Player tab - Quick Match section. Join solo or gather a party - anything works! Teams of up to 5 players are welcome to participate.
Two teams play two rounds: one round hiding, one round seeking. The hiding team disguises themselves as objects around the city, while the seekers try to find and tag every hidden player before the round timer ends. Each round lasts 3 minutes, and if both teams perform equally in terms of tagging or survival, the winner is decided by the team’s combined total hide time.

The mode has a bit more to it than just running around and clicking props. Both teams have a certain set of abilities that can be used to make the game more unpredictable. Hiders periodically whistle, which gives nearby seekers an audio clue, and if they stay still for too long they start attracting flies, making them easier to spot. Seekers, meanwhile, don’t all play the same way: they can use different kits such as Arcane Ranger, Nullifier, and Spellbreaker, each with its own abilities for exposing hidden players. A hider also cannot be eliminated immediately — first they have to be marked with Found, which reveals them with a red target and pings their location on the map. Only then can seekers tag them out.
Decor Duels introduce a new currency called Illusionary Coins, which are used to purchase rewards:
- decor
- toys
- transmogs
- mounts
You earn these coins by playing Decor Duels and completing related objectives. Winning rounds gives more coins, but even participation contributes.

The currency is spent in Silvermoon City, specifically in Falconwing Square, where a dedicated vendor offers all Decor Duel rewards.
Time to Dive with Abyss Anglers
Abyss Anglers is the last introduced activity for Patch 12.0.5. A perfect opportunity to dive into Zul’Aman’s waters without getting up from your chair.
A chill and interesting activity that takes place on a stranded island. Depthdiver Jeju will teach you everything you should know about diving in the introductory quest.

Completing a dive rewards players with points, which are converted into Angler Pearls. The more fish you catch, the more creatures and relics you find, the bigger the score.
Important: Running out of oxygen results in losing 1,000 points.
A table to prioritise and maximise your score:
| Activity | Points Rewarded |
|---|---|
| Harpoon a Common Fish | 50 |
| Harpoon an Uncommon Fish | 100 |
| Harpoon a Rare Fish | 200 |
| Harpoon an Epic Fish | 300 |
| Harpoon a Legendary Fish | 500 |
| Harpoon a Mythic Fish | 1,000 |
| Swim through a school of Fish | 25 |
| Fish from an Abyss Bubble | 25 + Fish Rarity Bonus |
| Small Creatures Caught | Varies |
| Sunken Relics discovered | 500 |
| Ancient Relics discovered | 7,500 |
| Safely Surface | 1,000 |
More decor, tmogs and a charming pet - all these rewards are awaiting players to dive deeper.
Class Changes
Patch 12.0.5 also includes a round of class tuning across multiple specs, affecting damage, healing, and overall performance in both PvE and PvP. Instead of going through each individual change, it’s better to check the full list directly in Blizzard’s official notes, where everything is laid out in detail.
More Achievements
2 brand new achievements are waiting to be earned:
Midnight Keystone Myth: Season One – Attain a Mythic+ Rating of at least 3400 during Midnight Season 1. Rewards a Timelost Saddle that can be exchanged with Lindormi for a mount of your choice. A perfect opportunity for those who skipped some previous expansions - you now have a chance to gather every missing mount from Battle for Azeroth, Shadowlands, Dragonflight and The War Within.
Umbral Champion: Midnight Season One – End Midnight Mythic+ Season 1 with a Mythic+ Rating in the top 1% of all players in your region. Rewards a new exclusive mount, still to be revealed.
See You Soon
Patch 12.0.5 adds a mix of new activities that fill the gaps for those who already claimed the most difficult achievements and brings more grind. Whether it’s fast, repeatable Void Strike events, or Ritual Sites with their delve and Horrific Vision-like structure, one more battleground (though non-lethal and gear-independent) with its hide-and-seek gameplay, and Abyss Anglers with its system built around underwater dives. On top of that, the brand-new Voidforge gives you a way to improve your gear.
All in all, though interesting at first, these activities can become time-consuming. If you don’t feel like going through the grind to get all possible rewards and enhancements, you can always rely on LevelUpper boosting services and focus on the results instead of the process.
